... read moreAsanoha is a wireless router that Taga designed for a Japanese internet and cable service provider, a huge company with millions of users across Japan. They asked us to design for them a functional and elegant router that would be provided to their customers along with their internet services.
We wanted to design a product that, in addition to being functional and intended to serve a specific role in every house, would give a place of honor to Japanese culture, compliment the Japanese visual language, and could also be a decorative object and beautiful device to look at.
After much thought and research about symbols and visual language accepted in Japan, which we conducted to find out what do the Japanese like and appreciate in terms of appearance, and how the Japanese perceive visuals and different textures, we found a returning pattern in their design – Asanoha, which symbolizes peace, respect, and luxury. We used this special pattern on the router in a clean, beautiful, and sophisticated way.
