Prow Fusion – Delivery device for lumbar fusion

NLT Spine

Growing a backbone. Literally

The Prow Fusion device repairs discs in the spinal cord. It is based on the fusion method – a method in which two vertebrae are “welded” together as a solution for disc degeneration. Its innovation is actually in a technique in which injected implant and bone graft are inserted into the space between the vertebrae, through a small incision in the body. All implants and instruments required for the procedure are inserted directly into the body through a single conduit and, upon reaching their destination, deflect to form a curved configuration. The bone graft then actually fuse together the bones in the spine so that they heal into a single, solid bone.

Taga was asked to develop the delivery device of the implant and bone graft. Spine surgeries are particularly complex, given their sensitive location, and any mistake

Dreams Taking Shape

The Dream

To develop a delivery device that can perform several complex operations at the same time, be user-friendly and convenient to operate in a complex surgery situation.

The Outcome

After in-depth research and experimentation, we were able to produce a device that meets the standards of complex surgeries, perform several operations while being comfortable for the user. The company was sold for $53 Million.
