Phytech is an IoT-based sensor system that monitors the growth of agricultural crops by measuring the diameter of the plant stem and transmitting the information in real-time to an application that is on the farmer’s cell phone, telling him whether something is needed in his crops, saving him time and labor work.
Phytech came to Taga with a very clear need to make crop growing more efficient, easier, and more convenient.
The development of the product consists of 3 parts: the part that clings to the base of the plant, and measures its diameter, including two pliers that wrap around it and change their size according to its growth, tight enough to measure effectively, but not too much, so as not to crush the plant and harm it. The second part is a transmitter that is stuck in the ground next to the clip, connected to it, and receives a transmission from the clip attached to the plant.
And the third part is the data box that receives the transmission from all the transmitters scattered throughout the field, it analyzes the data and, and transmits it through an app installed on the farmer’s phone or tablet.
Our main challenge was developing a mechanical and electro-mechanical mechanism, which would be resistant to all-terrain conditions, cheap, and easy to install.
The guiding principle is that the two parts adjacent to the plant will be disposable and seasonal. Therefore, their production cost will be cheap.
Taga researched the field before embarking on the development path and accompanied this project all the way – from planning, full design, models, and prototypes production.
